Jeep has launched the Compass Sport 9AT at Rs 21.99 lakh, ex-showroom, putting a 9-speed automatic into the entry Sport trim for the first time. The launch is reported as 26 October 2026, and deliveries begin by the second week of November 2026.
That price makes it the least expensive automatic Compass on sale in India. Until now, an automatic meant moving beyond the Sport trim.
What the 9-speed adds
The change is the gearbox. The 9-speed automatic takes the place of the manual offered on the standard Sport, so the step from the Sport manual to the Sport 9AT buys you two-pedal driving at the base trim. Jeep calls the new version the Compass Sport FWD, so it drives the front wheels.
The engine is unchanged in type: Jeep's 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel, rated at 170 HP and 350 Nm. If you drive mostly in stop-start city traffic and want a diesel Compass without a clutch, this is the version to look at first, because it is the cheapest route to that combination.
