What is inside an on-road price
The ex-showroom price is what the manufacturer charges the dealer. The on-road price is what leaves your account. The gap is made of four things.
RTO registration and road tax. Paid once, to register the car in your name. It is set by the Maharashtra government and depends on the price, the fuel and who registers the car. A company registration costs more than an individual one. A BH-series registration is charged differently, per year, so it can be cheaper if you move between states.
Insurance. The first-year comprehensive premium is part of the price a dealer quotes. You can often buy cover for less elsewhere, which is one place a dealer's quote and IndiCar's price differ.
TCS. Tax collected at source, charged by the seller on higher-priced cars. You can claim it back against your income tax.
FASTag. A small fixed charge for the toll tag.
Anything else on a dealer's quotation, such as accessories packages, extended warranty or a service plan, is optional unless the dealer makes it a condition of sale. Ask for it to be written as a separate line.
