IndiCar vs walking into a dealership
Most people in Mumbai still buy a new car by visiting showrooms. That works, and some buyers prefer it. This page sets out where buying through IndiCar differs, and where the showroom is still the better move.
| IndiCar | Going to the dealer | |
|---|---|---|
| Price you are told | The on-road price per variant, published before you contact anyone. | Usually an ex-showroom price first. The on-road figure arrives in a quotation, often after you share your details. |
| Extras on the quotation | Accessories, extended warranty and service plans are shown separately. | Often bundled into the quotation. Some are optional even when the quotation does not say so. |
| Insurance | Compared across insurers; you choose. | The dealer commonly arranges its own insurance, and the premium sits inside the on-road price. |
| Calls and follow-ups | Your number is not passed to a dealer. | Expect calls from the sales team and from managers. |
| Comparing brands | One place for every brand IndiCar lists. | One showroom per brand, so a comparison means several visits. |
| Seeing the car | Book a test drive through IndiCar; see stock before you go. | You see, sit in and drive the exact car on the spot. |
| Negotiation | The discount is already in the price shown. | You can negotiate in person, and some buyers get a better deal that way. |
When the showroom is still the right move
If you want to sit in three cars before choosing, or you enjoy negotiating face to face and have time to do it, go. A test drive is worth doing whichever way you buy.
When IndiCar saves you the trouble
If you know what you want and would rather not spend weekends in showrooms or take sales calls, IndiCar gives you the on-road price in advance and handles the booking. You can also bring a quotation you already hold and have it checked.
A useful habit either way
Ask for the on-road price in writing, with every line separate: ex-showroom, RTO, insurance, TCS, FASTag, and each accessory or add-on. Ask which lines are optional.
Questions
Do I still get a test drive?
Yes. IndiCar can arrange a test drive of the car you are considering.
Is the on-road price negotiable?
IndiCar's published price already has its discount applied. At a showroom you can negotiate in person.
What is a compulsory add-on?
A charge the dealer makes a condition of the sale, such as an accessories package. IndiCar shows each compulsory add-on as its own line and includes it in the total, so nothing is added after you commit.
