A Volkswagen Virtus in Mumbai starts at Rs 12,81,197 on-road. With 20 percent down, the EMI is Rs 32,593 for 3 years, Rs 21,276 for 5 years or Rs 16,491 for 7 years.
The cheapest Volkswagen Virtus in Mumbai, the Comfortline Petrol Manual, costs Rs 12,81,197 on-road. With a 20 percent down payment of Rs 2,56,239, the monthly EMI is Rs 32,593 over 3 years, Rs 21,276 over 5 years and Rs 16,491 over 7 years. The tables below cover all three variants. These are IndiCar's own on-road prices for Mumbai, from the price list dated 12 October 2026.
How these figures are worked out
Every number in this article uses the same assumptions: a down payment of 20 percent of the on-road price, the rest as a loan, interest at 9 percent a year on a reducing balance. Real bank rates vary with your profile, so treat the EMIs as a working estimate and not as a bank offer. Because the assumptions are identical across variants, you can compare the three cars and three tenures directly.
Comfortline Petrol Manual
On-road price: Rs 12,81,197. Down payment: Rs 2,56,239. Loan: Rs 10,24,958.
| Tenure | EMI a month | Total interest |
|---|---|---|
| 3 years | Rs 32,593 | Rs 1,48,390 |
| 5 years | Rs 21,276 | Rs 2,51,602 |
| 7 years | Rs 16,491 | Rs 3,60,286 |
This is the entry point and the lowest EMI in the range at every tenure shown. It suits a buyer who wants the smallest down payment and monthly outgo and is fine with a manual gearbox.
Highline Plus Petrol Automatic
On-road price: Rs 17,85,508. Down payment: Rs 3,57,102. Loan: Rs 14,28,406.
| Tenure | EMI a month | Total interest |
|---|---|---|
| 3 years | Rs 45,423 | Rs 2,06,822 |
| 5 years | Rs 29,651 | Rs 3,50,654 |
| 7 years | Rs 22,982 | Rs 5,02,082 |
Moving up from the Comfortline adds an automatic gearbox. On a 5 year loan the EMI goes from Rs 21,276 to Rs 29,651. It suits you if the car is a daily commuter and the monthly EMI fits your budget.
GT Plus Sport Petrol Automatic
On-road price: Rs 22,87,680. Down payment: Rs 4,57,536. Loan: Rs 18,30,144.
| Tenure | EMI a month | Total interest |
|---|---|---|
| 3 years | Rs 58,198 | Rs 2,64,984 |
| 5 years | Rs 37,991 | Rs 4,49,316 |
| 7 years | Rs 29,445 | Rs 6,43,236 |
The GT Plus Sport is the top of the three. It needs the biggest down payment, Rs 4,57,536, and the highest EMI at each tenure. It suits a buyer for whom the top variant is the priority and who has the monthly room for it.
What the tenure changes
A longer loan lowers the EMI but raises the total interest. On the Comfortline, going from 3 to 7 years cuts the EMI from Rs 32,593 to Rs 16,491, while total interest rises from Rs 1,48,390 to Rs 3,60,286. On the Highline Plus, interest goes from Rs 2,06,822 to Rs 5,02,082. On the GT Plus Sport, it goes from Rs 2,64,984 to Rs 6,43,236.
- 3 years: highest EMI, least interest. Choose it if the monthly figure is comfortable.
- 5 years: a middle path. Comfortline Rs 21,276, Highline Plus Rs 29,651, GT Plus Sport Rs 37,991.
- 7 years: lowest EMI, most interest. In every variant, the interest on 7 years is more than double that on 3 years.
My view: 5 years is the sensible default for most buyers. It keeps the Comfortline EMI at Rs 21,276 a month without the interest bill of a 7 year loan. These figures cover the loan only; running costs are not included, so budget for fuel and upkeep separately.
Down payment: what you bring on day one
The down payment is 20 percent of the on-road price: Rs 2,56,239 for the Comfortline, Rs 3,57,102 for the Highline Plus and Rs 4,57,536 for the GT Plus Sport. The on-road price is what matters here, not the ex-showroom price, so work from the full figure.
