What each step up the trim ladder costs

The Altroz is sold in four trim lines: Smart, Pure, Creative and Accomplished. Taking the cheapest entry point of each, the on-road prices are:

  • Smart from Rs 7,08,328 (Smart Petrol Manual)
  • Pure from Rs 8,39,995 (Pure Petrol Manual)
  • Creative from Rs 9,48,764 (Creative Petrol Manual)
  • Accomplished from Rs 10,86,155 (Accomplished S Petrol Manual)

Smart to Pure adds Rs 1,31,667 on-road. Pure to Creative adds Rs 1,08,769. Creative to Accomplished adds Rs 1,37,391. The Pure to Creative step is the smallest of the three, so if you are weighing the middle of the range, that is the jump that costs you least. Whatever you pay for a step, ask the dealer to show you in the car what changes between the two variants, because this guide covers prices only.

Which Altroz suits which buyer

Lowest outlay: the Smart Petrol Manual at Rs 7,08,328 is the only Altroz under 8 lakh on-road in Mumbai. The next cheapest, the Smart CNG Manual, is Rs 8,35,849.

CNG: the Smart CNG Manual at Rs 8,35,849 is the cheapest CNG and also costs less on-road than the Pure Petrol Manual at Rs 8,39,995. If you want CNG, the Smart is the lowest entry. The Pure CNG Manual is Rs 9,36,239 and the Pure S CNG Manual is Rs 9,69,701.

Diesel: the cheapest is the Pure Diesel Manual at Rs 9,88,595. The Creative S Petrol Manual is almost level with it at Rs 9,88,836, so if you are choosing between the two, compare them side by side at that price. Diesel then continues to the Creative S Diesel Manual at Rs 11,40,088 and the Accomplished S Diesel Manual at Rs 12,60,250.

Automatic: the cheapest is the Pure AMT Petrol Automatic at Rs 9,05,256, which is Rs 1,96,928 more than the cheapest Altroz. Automatic CNG starts at the Pure AMT CNG Automatic, Rs 9,97,587. The DCA petrol automatics start at the Creative S DCA Petrol Automatic, Rs 11,26,228, and run to the top of the range.

A caution on choosing by price alone

The list above compares purchase prices only. It does not cover fuel, servicing or other running costs, so it cannot tell you whether petrol, CNG or diesel works out cheaper over the years you will own the car. A higher price for a CNG or diesel variant may or may not pay back for you, and you would need your own monthly distance and local fuel prices to work that out. Treat this guide as the buying-cost half of the decision.

What to ask the dealer in Mumbai

  • Ask for the on-road quote with each line shown: ex-showroom, RTO registration and road tax, first-year comprehensive insurance, FASTag. Compare against the breakup above, which for the Smart Petrol Manual is Rs 5,99,990, Rs 69,869, Rs 37,619 and Rs 850.
  • Confirm that the quote is for individual registration, since these prices assume it.
  • Ask for the exact variant name on the quote. Names such as Pure and Pure S, or Creative and Creative S, sit close together in price.
  • Check the on-road total against the figure in this guide for the same variant. Any difference should be explained line by line.
