📢 Crucial Software Update: Toyota India Recalls Premium Models Over 360-Degree Camera Glitch

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has initiated a voluntary recall campaign in India for select units of its premium models: the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Toyota Vellfire, and the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 (LC300). This proactive measure is to address a potential software issue in the vehicles’ 360-degree camera system (Panoramic View Monitor – PVM).

A total of 4,863 units are affected by this precautionary campaign. Toyota has clarified that this is a preventive measure and no related incidents or accidents have been reported in India due to this issue.

⚠️ The Technical Glitch Explained

The recall targets a software bug within the Parking Assist Electronic Control Unit (ECU), a key component of the 360-degree camera system.

  • The Issue: A software error can potentially cause the rearview display image on the infotainment screen to freeze or become a black screen under specific conditions (e.g., when the ignition is switched on or off within a short timeframe).
  • The Fix: Toyota authorised service centres will perform a free software reprogramming update to the Parking Assist ECU to restore the system’s optimal and safe performance.
