Renault Kwid EV Spied Testing in India: Front Charging Port Confirmed

Bold New Design and Features

  • The Kwid EV prototype showcases Y-shaped LED DRLs, a redesigned closed-off grille and bumper, and SUV-inspired upright bonnet lines, giving it a distinctive, modern aesthetic compared to the petrol Kwid.

  • The front charging port is cleverly integrated under the Renault logo, enabling more convenient access and compatibility with public charging stations—a first in this segment.

  • Spy shots confirm black cladding, plastic wheel covers, rear wiper, defogger, antenna, and a roof spoiler, indicating the tested version is likely a mid-spec variant intended for mainstream buyers.

Cabin and Tech Upgrades

  • Inside, the Kwid EV is expected to offer a fresh interface with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charging, a 7-inch fully digital driver’s display, and climate control.

  • Other expected features include height-adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, rear center armrest, connected car tech (Apple CarPlay/Android Auto), and all four power windows.

  • Safety kit could comprise multiple airbags, rear camera, tyre pressure monitoring, and select Level 1 ADAS elements (pending confirmation for India).

Electric Powertrain and Performance

  • The Kwid EV is based on the global Dacia Spring platform, featuring a 26.8 kWh battery pack.

  • Two motor options are likely: 45 hp and 65 hp, providing a real-world range up to 225–304 km per charge.

  • Fast charging will be supported (20%–80% charge in 45 minutes), along with regular AC charging options.
