The new generation will be available exclusively with electrified options: Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). This strategic shift aligns perfectly with India’s growing focus on sustainable mobility and reduced emissions.
The standard hybrid models feature Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system paired with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Power output has been significantly increased, with AWD models now producing 236 horsepower (up from 219 hp previously) and FWD variants delivering 226 horsepower (a substantial 23 hp improvement over the outgoing model’s 203 hp). For the first time, the RAV4 Hybrid will be available with front-wheel drive, potentially offering a more affordable entry point for Indian buyers.

The GR SPORT’s performance credentials extend beyond its powertrain with GR-tuned suspension and power steering, enhanced body rigidity, and summer tires on unique 20-inch wheels with increased offset. Inside, suede-trimmed sport seats with GR logos on the headrests and steering wheel create a cockpit-like atmosphere.

Revolutionary PHEV Technology with DC Fast-Charging
The 2026 RAV4 PHEV introduces groundbreaking technology to the plug-in hybrid segment with DC fast-charging capability on XSE and Woodland grades. This EV-like feature allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes when connected to a DC fast charger—a significant improvement over the previous generation’s 2.5 to 4-hour charging time.
